Sourdough

"Sourdough" is a term used in Alaska to refer to someone who has lived in Alaska for more than one year.

Dad and I arrived in Anchorage at 11:45pm last night.  Normally I have no complaints about Jetblue, but this time they kept the planes COLD!  And they sell their blankets!  I've never been on an airline that sells blankets.  We had to ask the flight attendant multiple times to warm up the plane, and she did........after selling the blankets.

Bonnie and Mike (Herbert) picked us up from the airport.

I took this picture to send to Jon Groneman, a friend who LOVES the Utes. :)
I was put up in the cousin room at the Herbert home.  Too fun!

This morning we were treated to a yummy breakfast of homemade bread with fireweed jelly, breakfast burritos, fruit, and orange juice.
We attended the morning session at the temple.
And what a gorgeous morning it was!
Then we left the temple and drove south to Alyeska (the native term for Alaska) Resort, stopping along the way for a few photos.

 See the pink fireweed?
We took a tram up Alyeska Mountain to have lunch at the Bore Tide Deli, where Dad and I ordered sandwiches on sourdough bread (even though we were only here for the day).
 Oh my, what a view!

Afternoon photo of the Anchorage temple on the way back.
Tonight Dad gave his James E. Talmage presentation to a small group of Alaskan members of the Church.

Here are our awesome hosts.  Thank you, Bonnie and Mike, for a wonderful, memorable day in Alaska!

And now, 23 hours after arriving in Alaska, we are heading back to the airport to return to the "Lower 48," as they say here.
