Halloween

Watch Douglas's face change in these first few photos. He told me he was preparing to smile while I was taking the pictures.

Douglas, Penny, and Diana preparing to head out for trick-or-treating.

Taylor came over to walk around with the kids.

Tonight, as we all knelt for family prayer in the living room, Diana was busy doing something in the bathroom. We called out to her multiple times asking for her to come join us for prayer. When she finally came out, we quickly noticed what she was doing in the bathroom. 😁

Orem Utah Temple Open House

I picked up Dan Urbina in Salt Lake City this morning and we drove down to meet Dad and Sara at the Orem Temple open house.

With Dan Urbina. The sun was shining directly into our eyes.

Territorial Capitol, St. George Temple Open House, Frontier Homestead State Park, Cove Fort

We visited various locations in southern Utah over the past two days. For school this year, Sam wants the children to experience/learn something in many of Utah's counties.

We began our trip at the old territorial capitol in Fillmore, Utah.

I asked the employee what "unlawful horseback riding" means. She said, among other things, it means riding while drunk, texting while riding (she was joking about that one), and for the women, not riding side-saddle.
Sam reading some of the 1800s rules for teachers and punishments for students.

These are great! So funny.

I didn't know James Brown was the founder of Ogden.

Putting on the booties before entering the temple.

We stopped at Nielson's Frozen Custard for a treat before heading back to our favorite little Holiday Inn Express in Cedar City, where we spent the night.

The following morning, Wednesday, October 25th, our first stop was the Frontier Homestead State Park in Cedar City.

Panning for gold, which Douglas quickly recognized as pyrite (fool's gold).

In the old schoolhouse.

We finished our trip with a nice, short visit to Cove Fort.
