Douglas and I flew to Texas yesterday for a short father-and-son trip.
We stopped at Douglas's favorite store in the Salt Lake City Airport.
Douglas likes the waffles at the airport.
Playing solitaire on our first flight, from SLC to Dallas.
We had a three-hour layover in Dallas. Douglas used the time to put together the LEGO set we purchased in the Salt Lake City Airport.
Douglas looking out the window of our second flight at the thin strip of South Padre Island as we approached McAllen, Texas.
We drove 90 minutes from McAllen to South Padre Island, swam in the pool at our hotel, ate a late dinner at Johnny Rockets, and retired for the night. We were pleasantly surprised to see they had put us in a room with two King beds.
Happy to go to sleep after a long day of travel.
This morning we walked two blocks from our hotel to the beach.
With dangerous swimming conditions, and dead jellyfish and sharp shells all over the beach, we didn't stay long.
We went back to our hotel pool where we played for two hours.
We showered, changed into our church clothes, and left South Padre Island to drive back to the new McAllen Temple.
Douglas with one of his favorite desserts: the molten lava cake from Chili's.
And how could with finish a trip without goofing off in the hotel gym?
Meanwhile, Sam, Penny, and Diana enjoyed some Mother-and-daughters time back in Utah. They watched a movie, decorated Halloween cupcakes, went to the pool, played with Grandma, etc.
Tomorrow we return to our three beautiful girls! 💗
