Our church group put on a very colorful Cinco de Mayo party this past Saturday. There was singing (including a hilarious mariachi performance of "Cielito Lindo"), dancing, pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey, smashing piñatas, and mucho food. It was muy bueno.
Due to the enormous amount of leftover food, many of the families took large containers of beans/ground beef/rice/chips/quesadillas home with them.
"Hey, I'm watchin' you."
Douglas and his Dad, Juan.
The other day Sam made some delicious oatmeal. She put oats, whole milk, sliced green apples, raisins, and cinnamon into the slow cooker and let it cook overnight. Very good, and surprisingly easy on my digestive system (probably because the oats are well done).
Sam's extended family is having a family reunion this summer. They asked each individual in the extended family to draw themselves on a card (couples on the same card) and the drawings will be printed onto the family reunion t-shirts. Above you see my rendering of me, and Sam's rendering of Sam.
This is my attempt to draw Doogles. I'm considering applying to have my art placed in the Louvre.
And this is Sam's attempt to draw the little man.
Shall we return to real-life, cute Doogles? Today we visited Tracy Aviary in Salt Lake City.
What fun we had!
I asked Sam if we could turn the garage into our own aviary. She asked me who would be cleaning said aviary. I told her that Doogles would be responsible for cleaning.......which means Mama would be responsible for cleaning. :)
Following our adventures with the birds we drove a few minutes down the road to Aubergine & Company. This one's a keeper! Fresh, healthy, delicious food. We both enjoyed the falafel sandwiches with different toppings. Their "Signature" dressing is amazing. Don't bother with the butternut squash soup. Mom's butternut squash soup is much better.

We will definitely return to this restaurant.
By the way, have any of you tried spreading butter on bread, and then spreading almond butter (or peanut butter) on top of the butter. Mmm. So creamy. :)
Last, but definitely not least, Stacie zoned our feet yesterday. Heavenly.
