Lizzie and the boys come to Washington, D.C.

Lizzie and her boys have been on a weeks-long road trip all across the United States. This week I had the pleasure of their company at the hotel where I'm currently residing in Washington, D.C. When you see these first few photos, you would think the boys were happy to see their Uncle Daniel. I believe much of their happiness came from NOT being in the car. :)

Dinner at the hotel before heading out to see the national monuments at night.
In front of the US Marine Corps War Memorial (also known as the Iwo Jima Memorial).
Lincoln Memorial
Washington Monument in the background.
Vietnam War Memorial
World War II Memorial
They came all the way from California!

Thomas Jefferson Memorial
Jesper is a wee bit tired. We were all exhausted coming back from the memorials/monuments around midnight!
The next morning there was a knock at my door. I opened it and found some BYU fans greeting me. BYU played the University of Utah in football later that night . . . but let's not talk about that. :)
Jesper attacking his breakfast waffles.
We drove down to Jamestown, VA. This is the place where we ate lunch before touring Jamestown. I included this photo because the two individuals working at this restaurant were from Viña del Mar, Chile, and Barranquilla, Colombia. Both the Coombs family and the Ogden family have strong ties to the country of Chile, and I served my church mission in Barranquilla, Colombia. Small world!

Watching glass being blown and formed into neat objects.
I love this little beach by the glasshouse.
Sam, this is where I want to bring Doogles and Penny when you guys come out here. Small beach. Quiet.

Soren on the bench, contemplating life . . . or the upcoming BYU football game.
On to a different part of Jamestown.
We took a short loop drive around a pretty part of Jamestown and we found a snapping turtle on the road.

Magnus ("Paggy")
FaceTiming Sam and the kids back home.
Karsten, Magnus, Jesper, and Oskar saying hello to Diana.

We kept our windows down as we made our way around the loop, and these HUGE flies flew into the van multiple times. Freaky things!
Driving from Jamestown to Virginia Beach.
We passed what appeared to be helicopter rescue training.
Or, perhaps they were actually rescuing someone.

Walking onto the beach at the First Landing State Park.

They made it! From the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. What a journey!
Go BYU!

Soren and Lizzie
As you can see from the previous photos, the younger boys arrived at the beach with their clothing on, but not too long after the photos were taken they ended up stripped down to their underwear. Watch the video below. It was supposed to be a quick, put-your-feet-in-the-ocean-to-touch-the-Atlantic trip. But they are children, and children like water and sand . . . and they don't like clothing.
Time to head back to Washington, D.C.
