On Sunday, we drove north to Donnelly, Idaho to spend time with my aunt and uncle, Kathy and Luther, at their cabins. On the way, we enjoyed listening to the semi-annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, when many of the leaders of the Church spoke to the world.
Shortly after we arrived at the cabin, we were introduced to some of the regular visitors.
Sam and I got to sit in the love seat by the fire.
Sam and I have bald spots these days. Mine was inherited and Sam's was caused by radiation treatments. Both are temporary - Sam should have her hair back to normal in a couple of years. I will have mine back in the resurrection.
Penny and Diana watching the deer.
Becoming familiar with their bunk bed.
The kids enjoyed the electric sofas.
Unbeknownst to us, Aunt Kathy was making meatloaf for dinner. Diana was very happy. She loves meatloaf. It was a delicious first meal of the trip.
We played a lot of "Sharks and Minnows," "Mother, May I," and other games on the grass behind the cabin.
Watching Uncle Luther fill a bucket of water from their well.
Roasting marshmallows by the fire pit.
Playing in the hot tub
Having a snack before bedtime.
Playing with toys in the upstairs area.
Bedtime stories
Aunt Kathy got a video of me reading to the kids, but it's one of the videos YouTube won't let me embed in the blog. Here's the link:
We played ping pong quite a bit.
Douglas and Uncle Luther playing ping pong:
Douglas loved the foosball table:
The kids had a blast playing in the hammocks.
Sam enjoyed the hammock too.
Penny sporting static hair.
We got to help Uncle Luther put some siding on his wood shed.
Douglas was so proud of his work with Uncle Luther.
Sam took a walk through the forest with Penny and Diana. Diana took this photo of Sam and Penny.
Penny, Douglas, and Diana eating pancakes on the porch.
We walked down to the nearby lake to skip rocks and enjoy the view. The lake is very low at this time of the year.
Skipping rocks:
Now you see it (Sam's bald spot)
Now you don't
Aunt Kathy joined us for this game of Rook and despite having not played for years, she won!
Last night the kids got some marshmallows one more time.
And they played in the hot tub one more time.
Now you don't
We love these two wonderful people.

Playing Badminton with Douglas.
On Tuesday evening, we drove to McCall for pizza and then we stopped at the lake for a few minutes to walk around and watch the sunset.
Aunt Kathy was filming us jumping around when Diana smashed her face into one of the large rocks:
Yesterday we spent a good chunk of time driving the RZR.
"Sam is about to drive!"
About to drive away with Sam at the wheel:
We saw a fox on this drive, but I didn't get the camera out in time to take a picture of it.
Last night the kids got some marshmallows one more time.
And they played in the hot tub one more time.
Today we bid farewell to Kathy and Luther and we drove home.
Thank you, Aunt Kathy and Uncle Luther, for a delightful few days in Donnelly. You are amazing hosts!
