Washington State (Day 2)

Today we visited the Northwest Trek Wildlife Park

We had a fun tram ride through the park. This park was better than any zoo I've visited. The animals were moving all over the place.

 This was our traumatic event for the day. The bobcat enclosure. Penny decided to stick her foot through the fencing while the rest of us were looking for the bobcat. After a few seconds we noticed Penny saying, "Foot, stuck. Foot, stuck." Grandma bent down to help Penny and a moment later Penny pulled her foot back . . . but the shoe did not come along with the foot. The shoe ended up 10 feet below in the water. Oh, the weeping and wailing that ensued. We, the adults, quickly decided that the shoe was lost. It would be our donation to the bobcat. We left the bobcat enclosure and as we passed the cougar enclosure we spotted one of those long pool poles with the net on the end. I grabbed the pole and returned to retrieve the floating shoe. Penny was thrilled. For the next 15 minutes she kept saying something like, "Shoe got wet. Dad help. Shoe got wet. Dad help."

 Back at the lodge. This was Penny's first experience with s'mores.

 "Mmmm!"

Grandma got a big smile from Diana out by the fire tonight.

Washington State (Day 1)

On Friday we drove from Utah to Idaho where we spent the night with cousins (Mike, Anna, and children).

Douglas spent the day with this scarf on his head or around his neck.

Yesterday we drove the rest of the way to the Seattle, Washington area, where we are spending the week visiting Stacie and exploring the area. We rented a lodge in the middle of the forest.

This morning we attended Stacie's ward.

This little girl warms the heart.

After church we had a picnic and played at a park near the school (Bastyr University) where Stacie is earning a master's degree.

Penny found a statue in the herb garden. Stacie is working on a Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

Penny turned two on June 17th.

 Sam made a nice cake with yellow and green flowers, because Penny's current favorite colors are yellow and green. Douglas looked at the cake and commented on the starfish. :)
