Happy 4th Birthday, Doogles!

I came home yesterday morning.  Penny was a bit hesitant to see me, but quickly warmed up over the next few hours.
Douglas is four years old today.  This morning he was spotlighted by his Mother at his pre-school class.

Sam read Douglas's current favorite book to his pre-school class.
Opening presents after pre-school.  Douglas is wearing the crown his pre-school teacher (Ms. Ashley) gave him for his birthday.
Douglas's Grandma Coombs stopped by to celebrate with him.

He loves his guitar, which was inspired by the recent movie, Coco.

A new train set.
He knows all 13 of the LDS (Mormon) Church's Articles of Faith.

Getting ready to blow out the candles.

This is the first year he was actually able to blow out the candles by himself. He's growing up!

Sam made German pancakes for Douglas's birthday dinner.  Yum.
A few random photos from the past week.  Waiting to get Douglas's hair cut.
Douglas is taking swimming lessons for a few weeks to get used to the water again.
I think he likes the pool. We went swimming this afternoon as part of his birthday activities.
Penny wants to climb on/in/over/through/under everything she sees these days.  She is the total opposite of Douglas.  He is careful.  She is fearless!
We love you, Douglas!  Happy 4th Birthday.

Because it's Mother's Day on Sunday.  Douglas is the great young man he is due in large part to his wonderful Mother.  Definitely not "just" a Mom.

TV remote, socks, sand, and fire trucks

Penny loves the remote.  She knows it is a source of power.
Doogles can put his own socks on!

Penny LOVES the sand!

Douglas's pre-school class took a field trip to the local fire station this past Friday.

Schofield

Penny is getting better at feeding herself these days.
Last weekend Sam took the kids up to Idaho for a baby shower.  They visited the burial site of Sam's Grandpa and Grandma Lowry.
On 6 April 2018 a new soul joined the Coombs family.  Schofield Spencer Coombs was born at 10:39pm, weighed in at a healthy 8 pounds 11 ounces, and measured 20.5 inches.  Grandpa Coombs looks happy, does he not?
Doogles and Penny have a new cousin and Sam is a proud aunt again.
Penny and Douglas at Uncle Nate's baseball game yesterday.
Douglas took this photo of his beautiful Mother.........and Penny's head.
Doogles sure likes his Uncle Nate!

Happy Easter!

The first two pictures document an accomplishment achieved by our cautious son.  Last Monday Sam took the kids to a park by the library before going inside to get some books.  At the playground there is a big rope "spider web" the kids can climb on, with green seats toward the top.  Douglas usually only climbs on the first two rows of rope.  However, this time he asked Sam to help him climb up higher so he could sit in one of the seats.  With a lot of encouragement (and a little shove--he wanted to stop climbing at one point), and some persistence on his part, he made it!

Penny sleeps with her bum in the air these days.

Spoils of the hunt
Two Sundays ago at Grandma Coombs's house:  Douglas went downstairs, found this crown, and wore it for a while.  He told everyone he was the king.  He found a smaller crown and gave it to Kate and told her she was the princess.  When asked if he wanted to switch crowns he quickly said, "No, I can ONLY be the king."
